Common Hoopoe
The Common hoopoe is also known as the Eurasian hoopoe, it is also known as the European wood pecker. It is often associated with wisden beauty and protection, symbolism in ancient cultures. In ancient Egypt the hoopoe was considered secret and depicted on tomb painting. It was believed to have protective qualities. Hoopoe was chosen as the national bird of israel in 2008. They feed on insects, they use their long curved beak to probe the ground. Female lays 5-9 pale grey or white eggs at daily intervals incubation last for 18 days by female, hatching chicks are covered with down.
