Copper Smith Barbet
The copper smith barbet is a beautiful coloured bird with a beautiful sound like a copper smith striking a hammer on a metal. It is also known as the crimson breasted barbet with a crimson forehead, They mainly feed on figs guavas and berries, the strong beak helps them to crush the fruit. It has bright green upper parts with dark streak pale yellowish under parts and are geographically variable combination of red, yellow and black on the head and breast, the barbet comes from barbe the French word for beard.
