Rofous Treepie
It is also called as Indian treepie This bird has a slate grey cowl, dark eyes, slightly down curved grey bill rufous on the mantle and under parts and a long grey tail. The wings have a large white panel and black edge. It nests in small trees. The nest is of thorny twigs. The clutch consists of 4 to 5 eggs and parental duties are shared. This bird is known to call out frequently from tree covers of parks and gardens. The local name for this bird kotri is derived from the the typical call while the other names include handi chancha and taka chor. The rufous treepie is a russet coloured bird from the crow family. The crow family called corvids is often seen as a harbinger of bad luck. Perhaps it is because they are the most intelligent birds studied with skills possessed only by humans and few high order mammals.
