The grey parrot is a medium to large species of parrot with barred grey plumage. It has white facial feathering, black wing tips and scarlet tail. It feeds mainly on nuts and fruits. Three to five eggs are laid in each clutch in a tree high above ground. The female incubates the eggs for 30 days and is fed by the male during this time. Both parents feed the young. Grey parrots live for 40 to 60yrs in captivity, their main life span in the wild is shorter 23 years. They start breeding at the age of 3 to 5 years.
