Painted stork

Long legs and powerful bills make storks striking birds of fresh water habitats. This order also contains herons, pelicans, cormorants, egrets, bitterns, bitterns, ibises, spoon bills and gannets. Evidence suggest that new world vultures should be included but they are treated as birds of prey. Storks are solitary hunters they have the patience and attack with lightning speed. At night during breeding season many congregate in trees. Painted stork is a large wader in the stork family. This stork has a heavy yellow beak. They fly with their neck outstretched. The young ones are whitish in color with grey bills, they feed on small fish also frogs and snakes. They clutch 5 eggs and incubation period is for one month and the fledging period is for two months. During midday period when heat is too much adults will stand with wings outstretched to shade the chicks.
