Snowy owl

The snowy owl is also known as the polar owl, white owl or the artic owl.It is one of the largest owls, it is mainly found in the artic region of north America , breeding mostly in tundra. The male is pure white while the female is white with brownish spots. A clutch usually consists of 5 to 8 eggs but in years when food is abundant upto 14 may be produced. They are incubated by the female for 32 days. The young are cared by both parents. The young may leave the nest after 3 weeks but will not be able to fly for at least a month. It feeds on rodents, rabbits and birds. In breeding season at least this is an owl best admired from a distance despite what some describe as is pussy cat looks.
