Indian Vulture

This bird is also known as a long billed vulture, this medium sized, pale, tawny bird is more powerfully built than the white rumped vulture. The adult has a dark head and the neck is finely covered with down. It has a small fluffy white ruff. The coverts have dark centers. It has a pale belly and vent. The upper mandible is mostly yellowish with dark cere in flight, it has sandy undercoverts, a pale wing bar that contrast with dark remiges, pale black and upper tail with a terminal band. In India this bird is still found in the north east and south rajasthan particularly in Chambal river and hills of Ranthambore. Breeding season is from October to march, nest is a large platform of sticks placed on ledges, hill forts and rarely on trees in west rajasthan, Eggs1-2 white sometimes spotted or blotched with red.
