Babblers are small to medium size birds are primarily insectivorious but occasionally feed on small reptiles and berries. Gifted with strong legs and generalized bills, babblers spend a lot of time hoping on the ground or in under growth. Most of the species are sedentary and have a weak flight to their short wings. The striated babbler is overall streaked dusky looking babbler has brownish upper parts with heavy black streak on crown and mantle and fine streaking on throat and breast. It has pale yellow eyes, bill dark towards the tip. I was thrilled to see this bird on my recent trip to Gujarat, this always seen in a group of 10 to 12 the call is an instant buzzy with nasal bleats it makes a kay kay sound.
