Bar headed goose

A pale steel grey bird with a white face, the bar headed goose has two distinct dark bars running across its crown, the first one connects the eyes. It has a black tipped yellow bill, dark hind neck flanked by white stripes and orange yellow legs. The male and female are similar in appearances. The juvenile is paler with dark crown and hind neck. In flight it is mostly grey in color and shows long wings dark flight feathers, lower flanks and pale vent and rump. The bar headed goose is considered one of the highest flying birds in the world and can soar at altitudes as high as 23000 feet where oxygen and temperature level is low. This skill is specially useful when the bird migrates over the Himalayas. It is mostly seen in grasslands and cultivated areas, feeding on roots sterns, tubers and even grains. This bird makes a honking sound. It is found in groups, near swamps, large water bodies and rivers.
